The Walt Whitman Bridge is owned and operated by the Delaware River Port Authority, which a regional transportation agency. It offers services to the residents of southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. The authority is responsible for the maintenance and construction of cruise terminals, transit links and bridges. It additionally provides bids and contracts for improvement, traffic study and expansion projects. The authority coordinates various motorist assistance and senior citizen discount programs. The Delaware River Port Authority also maintains the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, Commodore Barry Bridge and Betsy Ross Bridge. In addition, it runs the Port Authority Transit Corporation, as well as owns the RiverLink Ferry and the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal.
