Western Berks Ambulance Association provides emergency services to an urban/rural, both high and low population, 90 square mile area in Western Berks County, Pa. The association operates eight ambulances, two wheelchair vans, two wheelchair buses, and a supervisor's vehicle out of three stations. Its staff of trained paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and First Responders handle more than 7,000 emergency calls a year and an additional 7,000 transports. The service area, call volume, staff and the types of service it offers make the association the largest nonprofit ambulance service in Berks County. The Western Berks Ambulance Association was founded in 1961.
