Established in 1877, the Rhode Island School of Design, also known as RISD, is an educational facility that offers instruction in drawing, painting, modeling and designing for artisans. With an enrollment of more than 2,000 undergraduate and over 370 graduate students, it offers nearly 15 undergraduate and 20 graduate educational programs for national and international students. The Rhode Island School of Design also provides a specially designed precollege program in art and design for high school students. It additionally organizes a variety of classes, lectures, workshops, gallery talks, guest speaker sessions, and other educational and social events that focus on encouraging young artists and adults. The Rhode Island School of Design maintains a location in Providence, R.I.
