ABOUT RUBY'S ACADEMY Ruby's Academy is located in Mount Pleasant, SC. Mrs. Vaudrien Forsythe Ray, M.Ed., Ed. S., Director/Owner, is the grandchild of Mrs. Ruby Middleton Forsythe, a noted educator who taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Pawley's Island, South Carolina. Her school, Holy Cross-Faith Memorial, was supported by the Episcopal Church and maintained by supporters who believed in her philosophy of providing quality education for children. Mrs. Forsythe taught in this schoolhouse for over forty years while instilling sound character values in her pupils. In 1987, a national newsmagazine featured her in their series A Salute to Everyday Heroes ( click here to read more about Ruby Forsythe ). Her son, Burns Forsythe, worked for the Charleston County School District for over 28 years and served on the school board for nearly 5 years. Mrs. Ray will continue the same commitment to education as the last two generations of South Carolina educators in the family. Education has always played a large role in family life of both Vaudrien and her husband William where their parents were educators who taught in South Carolina schools. Since entering the childcare industry with a home daycare service four years ago, this College of Charleston graduate's goal has been to provide exceptional services to families in Mt. Pleasant. The atmosphere Ruby's Academy, LLC is warm and professional while encouraging independence, problem solving, positive self-esteem, and the development of critical thinking skills. Ruby's Academy opened for business in August 2008. The center is designed to accommodate 65 children from the ages of 8 weeks through 5 years-old. The staff is dedicated to teaching and caring for all the children, utilizing modern techniques and sound Christian values. We are committed to providing the highest quality of care by providing quality instruction, character development, technology, healthy meals, and Spanish instruction. In addition, annual professional assessments will be conducted to determine each child's educational progress.
