HistoryJay Browne started his photographic career in Hawaii in 1972 shooting scenics and filming surfing on the North Shore there. Later he honed his skills photographing nature, wildlife, and scenics and became very adept in this field, eventually teaching workshops and getting many of his images published regionally and nationally. After working as a professional photographer/ writer for a local state agency until 1989, he then opened up his own commercial studio in Columbia and has since specialized in weddings (over 700), aerials, industrial, architectural business and home interiors and exteriors, bridal portraits, fine art, executive portraits, editorial, real estate, panoramic skylines, modeling, virtual tour photography, photography for websites, casting photographs,and family portraits. His work has been published worldwide on covers and in publications such as National Geographic, Sierra Club Calendars, Carolina Bride, and Columbia Living Magazine.
