Established in 1997, South Dakota Women's Prison is part of the Solem Public Safety Center, which is a government facility that houses the state correction offices and law enforcement agencies of the state, county and city governments. The prison features a more than 75,000-square-foot building with security units. South Dakota Women's Prison provides job skills training and work experience opportunities for inmates.
