Tennessee Highway Patrol is a law enforcement agency that is responsible for the enforcement of federal and state laws related to traffic. It investigates accidents involving property damage, personal injuries and fatalities. The agency also prosecutes in courts and works with the Attorney General's Office in cases of personal injuries or fatal accidents involving drugs or alcohol. Tennessee Highway Patrol is active in criminal interdiction that involves the suppression of narcotics on roads, highways and interstate systems. It maintains a special operations section that is comprised of an aviation unit, tactical and bomb squad, K-9 team and Governors Task Force on marijuana eradication.
