Community Housing Partnership

Community Housing Partnership of Williamson County ( CHP ) was chartered in 1994 as Williamson County's leading Community Housing Development Organization. The mission statement expresses, " To establish a public/private partnership as Williamson County's leading agency in achieving quality affordable housing for elderly, low income, disabled and work force families of Williamson County Tennessee through housing alternatives to create, supply and maintain appropriate housing by rehabilitation, maintenance and restoration."The agency immediately obtained $1.7 million dollars to build safe, decent and affordable homes to assist domestic violence victims, repair existing home for the poor, disabled and elderly citizens. These funds were awarded with government grants from Tennessee Housing Development Agency and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development and completed with honors for our efforts. Future grants and development activity resulted in the creation of 17 rental units and four house for homeownership of Williamson County families. In addition to renting homes and creating homeownership opportunities, CHP continues to aid low income, elderly and disabled homeowners with home repairs. There are many residents who own their homes, but lack resources to maintain them. CHP has administered Community Development Block Grant funding through the City of Franklin and Tennessee Housing Development Agency HOME funds for Williamson County to do substantial rehabilitation to over 25 house in Williamson County and Franklin. On a annual basis CHP does moderate rehabilitaion to over 100 homeowners in Williamson County each year. These rehabilitations include handicap ramps, plumbing and heating and air conditioning repairs, painting, light carpentry and other miscellaneous emergency repairs. These repairs are performed by over two dozen volunteer groups that perform the labor with CHP providing the supplies necessary for the work. Current and previous voluteer groups include Dell Computer, ATMOS, the Boy Scouts of America, Tractor Supply, Journal Communications and a number of area churches. CHP remains an important resource for homeowners needing help with their homes.CHP has also administered the sale of town homes donated at cost by Liberty Partners LLC and Main Street Homes. These units were donated at cost and sold with the provisions to remain affordable. Four town homes in the Willow Springs Development have been sold and we expect to have three town homes in the Ashton Park Development available for sale in the near future.CHP continues to be the leading housing development corporation in Williamson County, providing much needed services and opportunities for the work force, elderly and disabled familes of our community. The future activity of CHP promises to continue this legacy with new programs and further expansion of existing programs for the betterment of our community.
