Bruegger's Corporation, through subsidiaries and affiliates, is a franchiser and operator of Bruegger's bakery-caf s. Bruegger's has been offering franchising opportunities since 1993. The corporation s Bruegger s brand bakery-caf s offer upscale customers a variety of freshly baked bagels and proprietary cream cheeses, plus soups, made-to-order salads, custom-blended coffees, deli-style sandwiches, and desserts. Its products are made with all-natural ingredients, and the newly designed bakery-cafes offer a warm atmosphere for its customers. Nord Brue and Mike Dressell founded Bruegger s in 1983. The pair founded the retail bagel concept. Up until that point, bagels were considered mostly an ethnic food and were not known much outside of New York. At that time, less than one-third of Americans had ever tasted a bagel. Today, more than 20 years after the first Bruegger's opened in Troy, New York, there are approximately 250 Bruegger's throughout the United States.
