Communication Service for the Deaf is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing broad based services, ensuring public accessibility and increasing public awareness of issues affecting deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Through global leadership and a continuum of quality communication services and human service programs, CSD provides the tools conducive to a positive and fully integrated life. CSD opened its doors in November 1975, in Sioux Falls, S.D. The South Dakota state legislature provided funds - matched by the South Dakota Association for the Deaf - to help create the company. What began as a one person venture now covers more than 42 offices throughout the United States. CSD offers services like interpreting and TTY repair in 1975, and today operates the telecommunications relay service for over 31 states, along with an array of human services. CSD has a location in Lubbock, Texas.
