Established in 1995, Telford Unit is a part of the Correctional Institutions Division. It conducts cognitive intervention and basic and special education programs. Telford Unit also organizes parenting seminars. The unit provides medical, dental and mental health care services, as well as features more than 15 assisted living beds. Telford Unit offers several career and technology programs in the areas of plant maintenance and small engine repair. The unit maintains a work force of over 720 employees. It has a capacity to house up to 2,800 offenders. Telford Unit serves the Texas Department of Transportation and school districts. The Correctional Institutions Division is governed by the Texas Board of Criminal Justice.
