On May 7, 2002, the Solvay Group acquired the assets of Ausimont, a fluorinated specialties manufacturer, from its parent, Montedison. As part of an overall business strategy and vision focusing on the core strengths of the expanded organization, Ausimont assets were joined with those of Solvay s fluoropolymer activities. Combining the Solvay and Ausimont fluorinated materials portfolios doubled Solvay s position in the high growth, high value-added fluorinated specialties sector.
