Gooding Title Co was purchased from Wren Title Co. in 1957. It was owned and operated by Robert Gooding from 1957 to 1968, when R. E. ( Bobby ) Gooding became associated with his father, Robert Gooding. They operated the title company together until 1977 when Robert Gooding passed away. R. E. ( Bobby ) Gooding has owned and operated the title company from that time to the present time. Gooding Title Co has the only title plant in Red River County whose records go from the sovereignty to the present time. In addition to R. E. ( Bobby ) Gooding, who continues to own and operate the business, there are six ( 6 ) full time employees and one part time employee. One of the employees includes Rita McLendon, who has been employed by Gooding Title Co since 1986, and therefore has 20 years of experience in the title business. In 2002, one of its escrow officers, Jo McGregor, who has since retired, received an award from the Texas Land Title Association as the outstanding escrow officer in the State of Texas.
