John W. Munz, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in orthopedic trauma, including periarticular fractures (bone breaks inside or around a joint), nonunions/malunions, infections, foot and ankle trauma, and amputations.He's a professor, the Rochelle and Max Levit Chair in Orthopedic Surgery, and chief of orthopedic trauma service in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He's a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic SurgeonsMunz received his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 2005. He completed his residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2010 and a fellowship in 2011 at Harborview Medical Center.He's a member of the Orthopedic Trauma Association and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Munz has been recognized for excellence in teaching for his work locally and nationally with medical students, residents, and fellows.
