Yellowhouse Machinery Co

Product Support Manager Yellowhouse Machinery Company is the oldest John Deere Construction equipment dealership West of the Mississippi; Mr. J.E. Hancock established the business in 1958. At that time, there were no John Deere dealerships that were strictly construction, although there were many John Deere combination agriculture and construction dealerships. Mr. Hancock established Yellowhouse Machinery Company, John Deere' first Construction-only dealership, so that he could sell the Hancock Elevating Scrapers that he manufactured. Mr. Hancock hired Mr. Morris O. Kerr as general manager of this progressive enterprise. In 1960, Mr. Hancock sold Yellowhouse Machinery Company to Mr. Joe Thompson and Mr. Morris O. Kerr. In 1986 Yellowhouse Machinery expanded to the Panhandle and opened its dealership in Amarillo under the direction of Mike Kerr, Morris' son, when it bought Deckard Equipment Company. In November 1991, John Kritser bought Yellowhouse Machinery Company from Morris Kerr, Joe Thompson and Mike Kerr. In November 2001, Yellowhouse Machinery expanded south and opened dealerships in Abilene and Odessa. In January 2005, Yellowhouse opened its fifth dealership in San Angelo. Currently, the company sells and services John Deere Construction Equipment, Hitachi Construction Equipment, JLG Telehandlers, Bomag Compaction Equipment, Etnyre asphalt distributors, chip spreaders and trailers, Ranco belly dump and end dump trailers, in 91 counties (almost half of the state of Texas). After 53 years of serving West Texas, Yellowhouse Machinery Co is pleased to announce the acquisition of Keystone Equipment and Northern Equipment and their John Deere construction dealerships in Oklahoma. This acquisition will expand Yellowhouse Machinery's footprint by adding 45 counties in Oklahoma with John Deere construction dealerships in Tulsa (Sand Springs), McAlester, and Enid. "Our expansion to Oklahoma is a natural for us as the two customer bases are practically the same; oil and gas contractors, municipalities, utility and road contractors. We are fortunate to be gaining so many good employees in Oklahoma. We will continue our philosophy to provide our customers minimum downtime by providing parts on time, quality service, and an adequate inventory of quality equipment." - John Kritser, President, Yellowhouse Machinery Company
