Freedman Meats manufactures, distributes and resells a full range of high-quality meat products, including beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry, wild game, seafood and desserts. The company sells Certified Angus Beef products, as well as its own brands, the Freedman Brand, Milestone Lamb and Veal and Texas Western brand sausage and cooked chicken products. The company began buying and selling meat in the 1930s and, in 2001, became part of SYSCO, North America's leading marketer and distributor of food and food service products. Freedman Meats provides process control, inventory aging and special workmanship to some of the finest food service establishments in the world, as well as most of the Southwest's better independent retail stores. The company has full-time commodity buyers in Houston who focus on specific product categories to insure that the company obtains raw materials at the lowest possible price. Freedman buys nearly 4 million pounds of meat per week.
