Founded in 1953, Palmer Steel designs, engineers, manufactures and markets a wide variety of fabricated steel products. In addition to utilizing a state-of-the-art CAD/CAM system, the company s in-house engineering and drafting division maintains a staff of technically experienced personnel in drafting, production control, cost engineering and computerized graphics. The company s fabrication equipment includes structural saws, plate shears, various welders and power supplies, pipe benders, plasma cutters, cambering and profiling machines, sandblast hoppers, paint pumps, channel rollers, press breaks and overhead and mobile cranes. In addition, Palmer has a number of CNC-controlled beam lines, angle lines, drill lines and plate duplicators. The company is certified by the American Institute of Steel Construction to produce fabricated structural steel for category I conventional steel structures and category II complex steel structures. Palmer Steel maintains its headquarters and manufacturing facilities in Mc Allen, Texas.

Mr. Maldonado started his career in the steel industry 28 years earlier working for Palmer Steel Supplies, Inc. as a steel shop helper. After Palmer Steel decided to close their rebar division in early 1991, Mr. Maldonado seized the opportunity to start out on his own.
