Vishal Patel, MD

Vishal C. Patel, MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained spine surgeon. He completely focuses his practice on the care of back and neck pain, spinal deformity, fractures, and tumors. He particularly concentrates on less invasive techniques to aid in recovering his patients sooner to full activity, along with reconstructive options for spinal deformity cases. Dr. Patel has been in practice for seven years, and has completed 3,500 surgeries in training and practice.Prior to his position as co-founder of Texas Spine Associates, Dr. Patel completed a fellowship in adult and pediatric spine surgery at William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan under the direction of Drs. Harry Herkowitz and Jeffrey Fischgrund. Dr. Patel is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the North American Spine Society.Dr. Patel received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics (2002) at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating summa cum laude. He then proceeded to earn a medical degree from the University of Toledo (2007). He completed an internship in General Surgery at New York Medical College, where he also completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery. Following his residency, Dr. Patel completed a fellowship in adult and pediatric spine surgery at William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan under the direction of Drs. Harry Herkowitz and Jeffrey Fischgrund.Dr. Patel is committed entirely to the compassionate care of his patients. He usually begins with conservative, nonoperative treatment for patients and tried to leave surgery as the last resort. By putting his patients' interests first, he is able to educate them and guide them through the treatment process to achieve the best possible result.
