Roan Mountain, TN
Roan Mountain is a census-designated place (CDP) in Carter County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,160 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Johnson City Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is a component of the Johnson City–Kingsport–Bristol, TN-VA Combined Statistical Area – commonly known as the "Tri-Cities" region.
Roan Mountain is located in northeast Tennessee at 36°11′39″N 82°4′6″W / 36.19417°N 82.06833°W / 36.19417; -82.06833 (36.194219, -82.068417). The elevation at Roan Mountain varies from 2,550 feet (780 m) in the center of the CDP to 6,285 feet (1,916 m) at the alpine summit of Roan Mountain, 7 miles (11 km) away by air.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.4 square miles (19.2 km²).
