Cooper ( /kʊpər/) is a city in Delta County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,150 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Delta County. Cooper proclaims itself to be the "Vetch Capital of the World".
Cooper is located at 33° 22' 22" North, 95° 41' 21" West (33.372651, -95.689219). Elevation: 491 ft. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.5 square miles (3.8 km²), of which, 1.4 square miles (3.7 km²) of it is land and 0.69% is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,150 people, 849 households, and 547 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,494.8 people per square mile (576.5/km²). There were 983 housing units at an average density of 683.4 per square mile (263.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 80.23% White, 15.58% African American, 0.51% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 1.44% from other races, and 2.09% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.95% of the population.
