The Brien Center for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is a multi-faceted, well-connected, well-integrated and community-based agency that has a long history of providing emergency services and in addition, comprehensive, recovery-based, culturally competent, community-based services for children, adolescents, adults and families who suffer from serious and persistent mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders. Ours services are responsive to preferences and needs and focus on rehabilitation, resiliency and recovery. Since 1920, Berkshire County residents have turned to the Brien Center as the primary provider of assistance for the mental health and substance abuse issues that they or their families may be enduring. Here they have found high quality care and have been treated with dignity and respect. The Brien Center is the sole provider for the uninsured and under insured, offering a sliding fee scale to accommodate the neediest, both in terms of their mental health and financial capacity. The Brien Center services are open to all segments of the Berkshire County population, serving more than 10,000 clients annually at the Brien's North, Central and South County locations. Three thousand of our clients are children. We currently provide Berkshire County-wide services that include the following: residential, rehabilitation, educational, employment, outreach, housing support, nursing, wellness support, psychiatric services, medication management, and medical and social day support for elderly and younger disabled adults. These existing community-based services are integrated into the other services provided by the Brien Center, which include the following: 24/7 acute care services; child and adolescent, adult outpatient services, substance abuse and co-occurring needs, substance use residential case management and day programming. Acute OUTPATIENT SERVICES: The Brien Center provides community based mobile crisis intervention services and treatment to adults and youth in Berkshire County 365/24/7. Our treatment methodology is based on a comprehensive care model that incorporates recovery, resiliency, and rehabilitation principles; promotes family and individual choice, and utilizes resources for the individual and family to promote crisis stabilization within the person's community setting, whenever possible. COMMUNITY SERVICES: Community Services Division focuses on the power of the larger community to positively impact individual growth, care and recovery. Community Services Division has 15 sites located through out the county offering a variety of supports for adults with lived experiences, experiences of extreme states or those living with cognitive/functional challenges. CHILD & ADOLESCENT DIVISION: The Brien Center?s Child and Adolescent Services provides comprehensive community services including assessment, treatment and support to children and families in Berkshire County. The focus is on helping families cope with life transitions, emotional and behavioral disorders and developmental issues.
