The Boy Scouts of America is a youth service organization that supports more than 250 local councils. It offers venturing and cub and boy scouting programs. The organization conducts several leisure activities, such as hiking, paddling and climbing. Its Venturing is a youth development program that includes skills development in the areas of adventure, sports, arts, hobbies and religious life. The Boy Scouts of America offers a cub scouting program for boys between the ages of 7 and 10. It provides day and resident camps, as well as council-organized family and pack-overnight campouts. It offers programs related to citizenship, health and wellness, character development and personal fitness training. The organization also conducts various outdoor activities that include food collection, and community and conservation projects. It also provides online training resources and maintains a presence in Raleigh, N.C.

Wilburn Elementary School, operated by the Wake County Public School district offers enrollment to more than 1,000 students in grades kindergarten to five. It has an academic program that includes classes in spelling, grammar, basic math skills and language arts. It also offers classes in art, physical education and computer application. Wake County Public School district operates various other elementary schools that include Highcroft Drive Elementary School, Hilburn Drive Elementary School and Hodge Road Elementary School. The school also has a parent-teacher organization that supports a variety of school activities and programs.
