The Lions Club of Sterling devotes itself to causes serving eastern Loudoun County and the world. It hosts a number of charitable events, including the annual Bland Music Competition, honoring composer James A. Bland, and an annual citrus fruit sale. The club's activities benefit a number of causes, but it has a particular interest in causes benefiting the blind after Helen Keller challenged the club in 1925 to help the blind. The Lions Club of Sterling was founded May 13, 1964, and has featured a number of prominent members.
