Nothern Virginia Electric Cooperative is a nonprofit electric distribution system that provides electric service to more than 120,000 homes and businesses in Clarke, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William and Stafford counties, the city of Manassas Park and the town of Clifton, Va. Power is purchased through Old Dominion Electric Cooperative, a generation cooperative located in Glen Allen, Va. Its service territory encompasses 651-square miles with 5,247 miles of power lines. NOVEC is headquartered in Manassas, Va., with offices strategically located throughout the service territory in Gainesville, Leesburg, Minnieville and Stafford. The company was founded in 1983 from a merger of two neighboring utilities-Prince William Electric Cooperative and Tri-County Electric Cooperative.
