Having graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1989 in the first class of women, Patience made the decision to follow her interest and passion in seeking out and offering unique gift selections that customers would be proud to give and recipients would be thrilled to receive. For three years, Appointments offered gift selections in a small boutique space in Greensboro, NC. Then, in 1994, the internet was just beginning to offer customers the opportunity of buying items online. With a desire to be on the cutting edge of retailing, Appointments made its debut on the internet--before the "brick and mortar" stores made that transition. In the early days, it was a different experience for customers to "shop in their pajamas after hours". From the beginning, everyone at Appointments was dedicated to making sure that ordering a gift selection was convenient and very special.
