The Department of Emergency Medical Services, located in Virginia Beach, Va., provides services to the public that preserve life, improve health and promote the safety of citizens and visitors, who live, learn, work and play in the community. The Department of Emergency Medical Services maintains a lifeguard services division that works closely with private contractors who operates lifeguard and rental services for oceanfront.
