Peninsula School at The Faison Center is committed to providing evidence-based educational programming and behavior support services based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in an enriched, multifaceted learning environment to improve the quality of life for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and their families.

Newport News Public Schools Special Education serves more than 4,000 students with disabilities in various programs throughout the school district. It is a division of Newport News Public Schools, which serves more than 31,700 students through over five early childhood centers and nearly 25 elementary, 10 middle and five high schools. Located in Newport News, Va., the school district is one of the 100 Best Communities for Music according to a national survey of leading music and educational organizations. Newport News Public Schools Educators and staff members have earned numerous awards for excellence, including Virginia Library Media Specialist of the Year, Virginia Art Education Supervisor of the Year, Virginia Educational Interpreter of the Year, and more than 35 of its teachers have been certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
