James I Kim, MD

I was born in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and raced in a small town of the state of Jalisco called Union de TVLA. At the age of 18 I enrolled in med school a the University of Guadalajara in Mexico and graduated in 2008. I have been practicing Family Medicine since July of 2021 and as of September of 2022 I have been practicing HIV medicine along primary care.

As a family physician, I enjoy taking care of patients of all ages (children, adults and elderly) and helping them stay as healthy as possible. It is very important for me that my patients feel they are being heard and that they understand their health conditions so they can be active partners in taking care of themselves.

I am interested in supporting wellness and health for all children, both medically and holistically. As an undergraduate I studied health promotion and disease prevention, and I try to approach pediatrics from this lens and provide evidence-based care. More recently, I worked in a clinic geared towards teenagers and have enjoyed providing mental health and contraceptive support including Nexplanon implants. As a former pediatric hospitalist, I have a special place in my heart for medically complex patients.
