History

Originally constructed as a part of the general store (1916), it served as part of the mill company offices and still houses one of the company safes. In 1972, a commission was formed to create the museum in an effort to preserve the artifacts and long-standing history of the town. The museum officially opened in June of 1976 to coincide with the bi-centennial of America.
