Founded in 1981, SafePlace is a merger of the Women s Shelter and Rape Relief programs. The organization is private nonprofit organization. It is an advocacy agency and confidential shelter for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. SafePlace is a member of South Sound Partners for Philanthropy. The organization partners with the Washington State Coalition against Domestic Violence, Washington State Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs, and Thurston County Criminal Justice Victim Safety and Offender Accountability Audit. SafePlace offers crisis line, legal, medical, culturally relevant and walk-in advocacy services. In addition, the organization offers support groups and volunteer and emergency need assistance services.
