The recipes and baking practices at Breadsmith Franchising are the same as those of French bakers, which date back centuries. Each loaf of bread is handmade from scratch everyday. In 1993, the founder, Dan Sterling, opened his first Breadsmith store in Milwaukee. The breads have won national acclaim by Bon Appetit, which ranked the company as one of the best bakeries in America. Its French peasant bread was awarded a medal by the International Culinary Salon. BF has also been rated best of in 10 cities. In 1994, the company began expanding via franchising. There are more than 30 Breadsmith stores spanning the country.
