Water Safety Patrol is a private, nonprofit organization that was founded in 1920 by Simeon B. Chapin. Its boat patrol division conducts rescue operations, enhances law enforcement through education and provides assistance to boaters. The division s crew members are certified in water rescue, first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and boat handling procedures. Water Safety Patrol has an educational division that provides swimming instruction and conducts safety boating classes. Its swimming program includes lifeguard training and instruction for beginners and advanced swimmers. In addition, it offers treasure hunt and other water games for children. The company organizes annual benefit dinners, auctions and cocktail parties. It has received national recognition for excellence from the American Red Cross and National Safety Council.
