The Elmbrook Historical Society, founded in 1977, is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to the collection, preservation, and dissemination of historical materials related to Brookfield, Elm Grove, and Waukesha County. With over 175 members, the society actively works to maintain the Dousman Stagecoach Inn Museum, the only building in Brookfield listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The society hosts a variety of public activities, including lectures, docent-led tours, and special fundraising events, all aimed at fostering community engagement and preserving local history. Through initiatives like the Community Walkway, the Elmbrook Historical Society encourages residents to contribute to the preservation of their heritage for future generations.
