Longton is a city in Elk County, Kansas, United States, along the Elk River. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 348.
Longton is located at 37°22′39″N 96°4′58″W / 37.3775°N 96.08278°W / 37.3775; -96.08278 (37.377499, -96.082832). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.1 square miles (3.0 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 394 people, 163 households, and 98 families residing in the city. The population density was 342.6 people per square mile (132.3/km²). There were 193 housing units at an average density of 167.8 per square mile (64.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 94.67% White, 2.28% Native American, 0.25% Pacific Islander, 0.76% from other races, and 2.03% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.30% of the population.
