Maple River Township is a civil township of Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,232 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.5 square miles (91.9 km²), of which, 35.3 square miles (91.5 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²) of it (0.48%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,232 people, 434 households, and 352 families residing in the township. The population density was 34.9 per square mile (13.5/km²). There were 533 housing units at an average density of 15.1 per square mile (5.8/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 94.64% White, 2.84% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.16% Pacific Islander, and 2.27% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.81% of the population.
